Below are a range of services or organisations that accept self-referrals:

Dressings and wound care

  • Location: Soho Dressing Clinic, Soho Centre for Health and Care, Ground Floor, 1 Frith St, London, W1D 3HZ 
  • They will see patients over the age of 12 years old, with post operative and post injury wound care such as: 
  • Post operative wounds that do not require specialist input or require medical devices such as vacuum pumps/drains 
  • Removal of sutures / clips 
  • Minor burns (initial burn management and 1st review seen in A&E or Urgent Care Centre 
  • Post operative incision and drainage wounds (please bring a comprehensive discharge letter that includes wound management guidance on your first visit) 
  • Follow up wound management of soft tissue injuries such as abrasions, lacerations and flap wounds. 

Please note, they are unable to see the following: 

  • Leg ulcers 
  • Acute burns 
  • Patients with any signs of fever or who feel unwell  
  • Patients with excessive bleeding 
  • Pregnant patients 
  • Patients unable to self-manage analgesia 
  • Patients requiring assistance with or removal of Plaster of Paris casts 
  • Tetanus booster required.

Symptoms that can be seen under the service include: 

Red or painful eye or eyelids 

Recently occurring flashes or floaters 

Recent and sudden loss of vision 

Foreign body in the eye 

If you have very minor symptoms you may be advised to self care or seek support from your local pharmacy first

Smoking cessation

Residents of Westminster can self-refer to One you or call and book directly at the surgery 

Tobacco smoke contains over 5,000 chemicals including nicotine. Nicotine is highly addictive. Smokers smoke for the nicotine but are harmed by the tar and other chemicals. Find more here

Muscles and joint problems

You can refer yourself to Healthshare for Physiotherapy if you: 

  • Have a muscle or joint related issue/condition 
  • Are over 18 years old 
  • Are not under the care of a hospital consultant for the same problem 

 If your case is complex, their team can triage you for more tests (ultrasound and MRIs), some procedures (joint injections) or refer you on to a specialist Doctor.

Contraception and Sexual Health

Raymede Clinic, St Charles Hospital 

Raymede Clinic provides free confidential advice, condoms, contraception, emergency contraception, pregnancy testing, abortion referrals, and chlamydia screening for all ages. 
 

A walk in service is available, excluding intrauterine contraception IUD/IUS (coil) fitting or replacement, where you should visit this page to watch a short video, then call 020 3317 5888 to book an appointment.

Maternity

St Mary’s Hospital 

Our maternity and obstetrics service provides care for women and babies throughout pregnancy, labour, and the postnatal period, usually through about 10 days after birth. 

It is important to start your antenatal care early in your pregnancy, as soon as you find out you are pregnant. Use our online self-referral form to quickly refer to our maternity service.

Antenatal care is the right care you get from health professionals during your pregnancy. You will be offered appointments with a midwife, or sometimes a doctor who specialises in pregnancy and birth. You should start your antenatal care as soon as possible once you know you are pregnant. This is a service that can deal with all your musculoskeletal problems. You can see a physiotherapist who can go on and organise all appropriate test and scans with specialist follow up if need be. This is the exact service that a GP will refer you to. You can refer yourself to the service.
